On the Multimedia Design course you are trained to  build and maintain a homepage from start to finish. You will attain skills in planning and execution of digital media productions, including movie and image editing.

Over the two years that the course spans over you work professionally with design and development of web solutions, games and mobile services, communication through social media, digital video, programming plus innovation and idea development.

You are given input to design innovative interactive digital products that focuses on the end-user needs.

While you are on the course, you are in close contact with businesses, and companies will give you assignments and presentations.

The Multimedia Design course is a two-year further training course with four semesters. The course includes technical, creative and communicative course work with a focus on digital solutions and web design and programming. In addition, the course involves electives, an internship and a final main assignment.

The course has two core subjects:

  • Digital Content Production
  • Digital User Interfaces

 

Internship

You have an internship in Semester Four. You decide yourself if this is with a company in Denmark or with a company abroad

Academic regulations

Admission requirements

You must have completed one of the following courses to be admitted to the Multimedia Design and Communication course:

  • A-levels or a high school diploma, Higher Preparatory Examination Course, Higher Commercial Examination, Higher Technical Examination or a combined vocational and general upper secondary education
  • One of the following vocational training courses:
    • Film and TV Production (level 2)
    • Photographer
    • Media Graphic Designer (level 2 if old system)
    • Technical Designer
    • Sign Technician
    • Digital Media
    • Graphic Technician
    • The Data and Communication course (including specialities or level 2)
  • Vocational training of at least three years’ duration
  • Entrance exam for the engineering courses

 

Notice: You must have passed English level B plus either Maths or Managerial Economics level C or Business Economics level C

 

Places on the AP programmes in Computer Science and Multimedia Design are allocated in Quota 1 and 2.

Quota 1
Citizens from EU and EEA with an upper secondary education / high school) –can be assessed in this quota. This requires that your upper secondary school exam can be equated to a Danish upper secondary school exam.
You will only be assessed on basis of the result of your grade point average (GPA) from your upper secondary education. You must upload your diploma to your application at optagelse.dk. We will convert your GPA to the Danish 7-point grading scale.

Quota 2
Two different groups of applicants can apply through quota 2:

  1. You have other qualifications than an upper secondary education, e.g. a vocational training exam.
  2. You have an upper secondary education: If your GPA is not high enough for admission in quota 1, you can apply through quota 2 and be assessed on your other qualifications as well. Your application will automatically be assessed in quota 1 simultaneously, so you only have to apply for each programme once.

When applying in quota 2, you must attach documentation of the qualifications you want to be assessed on and a motivation letter.
In your application, you do not need to specify whether you are applying in quota 1 or 2. If you have attached documentation of qualifications and a motivation letter, you will be assessed in quota 2 and also in quota 1 if you fulfil the requirements.

*The international application deadline for both quota 1 & quota 2 is 15 March at 12.00.

English language requirements:

SEA’s programs offered in English require that your English level is equivalent to level B (Danish Level)

All applicants holding a foreign entrance examination must document their English qualifications, and English tests must be submitted together with the application. The test must be less than two years old. The requirement is:

  • IELTS overall score of minimum 6,5
  • TOEFL (internet based) a minimum score of 83
  • TOEFL (paper based) a minimum score of 560
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English
  • Oxford Placement Test, B2 (75 points in each part)
  • Common European Framework reference B2/C1

Applicants holding Nordic and German entrance exams, an International Baccalaureate exam or applicants who have English as their native language are exempt from the requirement.

 

Mathematic C (required for Multimedia Design). Mathematic C-level equivalent to 125 full teaching hours (60 minutes per hour).

A verification form to document the number of hours in the subject that are specific admission requirements. Your high school institution must fill in how many hours of instruction you have had during the final three years of your upper secondary education. The verification form must be filled in, stamped and signed by the school. You will find the verification form  here.

When you apply via Quota 2 or to one of our top-up programmes, we recommend that you send a motivational essay together with the application itself.

When you fill out your motivational essay, you MUST use this form. Please note that we only accept motivated applications where this form is used. Download the form, fill it out and upload it to your application.

The Multimedia Design and Communication course qualifies you for a range of different jobs with small or medium-sized enterprises or with media or advertising agencies.

Listed below are examples of the jobs that you can find:

Further training

With an AP degree in Multimedia Design, you will be able to apply for admission to several different higher education programs, including:

  • One-year bachelor programs after two years of professional experience
  • You also have the option of applying for other higher education programs with credit transfer.

SU (State education grant) for foreign citizens (students)

If you are a foreign citizen, you must fulfil specific conditions in order to be granted equal status with Danish citizens and receive the state educational grant (SU).

SU (State education grant) for Danish citizens (students)

While you are studying, you are eligible for SU. You can apply for this when you have been admitted to the education, but you should be aware that you cannot apply for SU until one month prior to the month from which you are eligible to receive your SU. If you begin your education later than the 20th in the month, you are eligible to SU from the following month. This means that if your begin your education on August 21st or later, then you are not eligible for SU until the month of September.
